Happy 1st Birthday Elisa DiGena

Tonight we celebrated the first birthday of Elisa Digena. She's the daughter of Mike and Caryn (Bell) Digena, who just moved to the Lyon, France area to help start new churches. Caryn and I were at Wheaton at the same time in the 1980s. Mike and I are from the same church in New Jersey. Just as God has led my heart to Paris for many years now, so has Mike's heart been on Lyon.

Like us, the Digenas live an ocean away from their families. Therefore, their parents aren't usually around for birthday parties. We were glad to be part of Elisa's birthday celebration. It was done in American style, with chocolate cupcakes (decorated by older brothers William and Alexandre, as well as our 2 kids) and barbecued chicken, pork chops, and shish kebabs.
