IKEA: a child-friendly (and parent-friendly place)

One of our favorite outings is going to the Swedish household megastore IKEA. Since moving to France in 1993, I have purchased a lot of furniture there. One feature of IKEA furniture (bookshelves, closets, tables, etc.) is that they come in kits that you have to put together. We go to the closest one to us in Villiers-sur-Marne.

We went there today to purchase some household items, as well as for the change of scenery.

One feature of IKEA is that it is kid-friendly. They have 2 euros children's menus for lunch, so that families can afford to eat there and shop longer. Their cafeteria is spacious and even has a toy section where our kids played. While we haven't yet used it, they have free and professional childcare and a fun looking kids area.

We're extremely fond of our church in Paris. It has lots of good things happening. However, it's not the most kid-friendly or family-friendly place. Our leadership needs to think a little more like IKEA has in order to help draw in more children and all the moms, dads, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
