Egg Coloring

Today our kids colored eggs for the first time. It has been over 3 decades since I last colored eggs and a number of years since my wife did.

Speaking of firsts, our oldest daughter used the big toilet for the first time today. We are very proud of her. Pretty soon we'll be down to just one in diapers, which we haven't had since she was born.

Getting back to the eggs, we had tried to invite a total of 4 other kids to come. However, it only worked out for one of them, Elisa, to come. She came with her mom Patricia who also had never colored eggs before.

In France, it is really hard to find white eggs, as most eggs sold in stores are brown. I'm not sure why white eggs are so rare in France, while brown eggs are so rare in the U.S.

It was fun watching all of them enjoying this traditional Easter activity. We hope to organize another egg coloring event in 2007. We think that it would work best to have one adult with each child who comes. It would be another creative way to build relationships with neighborhood people.
