Accident

My father called a couple of hours ago to report that he had fallen outside a roller skating rink in Colorado while taking one of my nephews (his grandson) to a hockey game. He apparently miscalculated a step and landed on his knees and face. He ended up going to the E.R. and needing 15 stitches on either his face or forehead. Despite the pain of his injuries, he sounded in good spirits. He's been quite a trooper for the 40+ years that I've known him.

However, he is over 70 years old. Thus, I was glad to hear that he agreed to have a home care health person come at least a couple times a month to help with my mother and to clean their apartment, do laundry, cook a meal, etc. This will help him conserve his energy and get a mental health break outside of the home. Or, the helper could take my mother out, so that he gets a break at home.

My wife wasn't feeling too well this evening. We both felt tired this afternoon. There has been lots going on recently: our son's big birthday party last Sunday, construction on the outside of the front and back of our apartment; our one year old's starting to wean, teethe, feed herself, crawl and walk; Fonderie organizational projects; apartment organizational projects; etc. There also seems to be some extra spiritual stuff happening.

We're thankful for God's angels and other spiritual protection that we often don't notice, but that we're aware of happening in the heavenlies.

This afternoon when coming home from the park, our son got ahead of us on his tricycle and started heading for the down ramp in front of our building's entryway. He did stop short just before the ramp.

There was a man coming across the street who stood between him and the ramp. He ended up speaking with such authority and peace that we sensed a specialness about him. From what he said, he was a Jewish man who believed in Jesus. He said that he had 3 grown kids and strongly encouraged us to focus on their education. At the end of the conversation, he said that his name was Jacob.
