Dedication and Open House

Yesterday we had our younger daughter publically dedicated to the Lord at our Paris church home. She's 14 months, which is older than most infants are at their dedication. So she actually walked to Pastor Serge at one point in the service, which was cute. Her godparents, Alain and Nathalie, were with us on the stage. Some of our friends made special efforts to get there at the 9:00 a.m. service, which is early.

We had 30 guests show up at the open house. 2 families from our building showed up, which was nice. Two other families whom we met at the swim class also came. David and Virginia, whom we visited last Thursday, drove down from north of Paris with their 3 kids. The rest were friends from our church.

A number of people couldn't come, but sent nice notes.

The dedication has allowed us the chance to talk about our faith and why we wanted our daughter dedicated. I had a theological discussion at the pool this morning with a German woman.

It's a relief to have these events behind us, as we've felt the weight of them for some time now. It also forced us to do a thorough spring cleaning and reorganization, which Jeanette was a huge help in. She leaves this Wednesday and we'll have to readjust again to life without outside help.

This Saturday we've invited some of our kids' classmates and friends (and their parents) to color Easter eggs with us here. It should be a riot.
