School orientation
This morning we attended an orientation session for the new students at the school where our son will be starting this September. It's a special type of school called a jardin d'enfants. It has smaller classes and more structure than the traditional école maternelle. Even though there is an ecole maternelle just down the street from us that would be very convenient for us, we had a better feeling about this other school after visits and meetings with the heads of both. We want him to get as good of a start as possible, even if this means us having to sacrifice and take more time getting him to/from school.
We met in the room where his class will be. It is well lit, clean, and spacious. Both our kids played very well there. Our daughter might be in this school starting the following year.
It looked like a nice group of students and parents. We knew one woman and her daughter from the bébé nageur class on Monday mornings. We also met parents of Vietnamian, German, and African descent. I thought I also saw parents of Indian and North African descent, as well as of French heritage. We expect that we'll all make some friends through this school.
