Friends on the journey--Part 2

Tonight we had our friends Charles and Magalie over for supper. We always have a blast with them and have some great laughs.

Although they are our son's godparents, we don't get to see them very often...or at least, not often alike as we would like. This calmer season of life and ministry allows the chance to strengthen relationships with friends on this side.

I first met Charles in 1988 right after arriving in France for the first time. (We are exactly the same age). I was in language school in Albertville in the French Alps. He came from the Paris area to the studio in Albertville to record an album titled "Les mots que l'on n'oublie pas" ("the words you don't forget"). After I returned to France in 1993, we ended up doing some ministry projects together.

We lost touch for a few years, then got back in touch on Easter 2002 when bumping into each other in the foyer at the Belleville Church. It's been terrific having him back in my life, as well as having Magalie as part of it too.

We attended their wedding in February 2003. This was our one year old son's first wedding. My wife was the matron of honor while pregnant with our daughter.

They came to visit us in New Jersey last November for a week and were able to share in a couple of the churches that we're involved in there.

My wife really feels at ease with them. When we're together, I see a zany side in her come out that is fun to watch. They are just a lot of fun to be around.

In the future, we hope that my wife, son, and daughter will be able to be part of the music productions that Charles and Magalie organizes out of their work place.

They also are involved in la Fonderie.

We're blessed to have them in our lives. They minister to us and we minister to them. Hopefully, we'll be able to minister together in bigger ways in the future.
