My daughter's birthday party and swim class
Yesterday afternoon we celebrated our daughter's 2nd birthday with a living room full of old and new friends. Since our physical families live thousands of miles from us, none of them could make it.
But we had fun with Charles, Magalie, Hugo and Jennifer D.; Lindsey (Reunion); Ruth (Ireland); Marion (Germany), Joe (Chicago/California), Isabelle (France) and their 18 month daughter Jessica; Yael (Franco-Jewish) and her daughter Leah from the baby swim class; Andreas (Italy) and his 3 year old Franco/Japanese/Italian son Fabio (also from the swim class); our new intern Isaac (Colorado); and Antoinette (France). It was a fun group that mingled well together. For the space we have, it was just the right number.
As it was between lunch and supper, we had sweet things (chocolate cupcakes and brownies made by my wife), as well as salty snack foods. We had just the right quantity of these as well.
It is encouraging to see our relationships developing with everyone who was there. Joe, Isabelle and Jessica, as well as Yael and Leah were all at the first session of baby swimmers today. Andreas, who works in running an Italian restaurant in Paris, would like to have us over for a meal. So would Joe and Isabelle. My wife and Yael have set up a prelimary play date for Leah and our daughter later this week, as they live 5 minutes from our son's new school.
May God be honored and glorified in these growing friendships!
