Last day hospital and first day home PHOTOS
My wife and Liz returned home around noon today. (I knew this would would happen eventually, but I've already cut her name from 4 syllables to 1 in common speech). I got to arrive in time this morning to help with her bath. I again have been impressed with the quality professional care, yet personal touch, of the maternity of the Diaconesses Hospital. Having been there for all 3 of our kids' births, I feel like I'm going home whenever I go there.
My wife's dad left this morning to catch his return flights back to South Dakota. David's help has been invaluable and he's also gotten some quality time with his daughter. This morning "Aunt" Marion came over to watch the kids so I could help my wife check out. We had Pizza Hut pizza for lunch, continuing our tradition with each child's birth of ordering out from local one just across the street from the hospital.
As the number of our children has increased, I've realized how much we are dependent on others to help us raise them well. With this 3rd child and the young ages of our kids, we can only survive, yet alone thrive, with some outside help and influence. We're thankful for those who already help us, as well as for some help on the way. Our systems and ways of doing things will need to change with 3 kids.
I observed that Liz already looks better than she did 3 days ago. My wife kindly chastised me tonight when she heard that I wrote that I thought that Liz looked a little like Yoda on the day of her birth. Liz shows an alertness and awareness to what is going on around her. She also was very calm this afternoon at home, even with the noise of her siblings around. I speculate that she grew used to their noise while in the womb and will not be phased by noise around her in the future. She enjoys sucking on my baby finger, as that seems to calm her.

Congratulations Al to you and your family...she's a beautiful addition to your beautiful family...it's a "chose merveilleuse"!
Nicole...YOU are looking great...a job well done. It brings back memories when we had 3 kids ages 3 and under. Definetly the hardest, most challenging parenting time. Now we have 5 and are expecting twins the end of March. Our oldest is 10 and our youngest is 3. This is a lot easier than having 3 small children! Advice: take one moment at a time.
Congratulations! Todd & Cathy Vander Vorst
Congratulations!! What a cute baby!! And a beautiful name. Although we have never had ours that close together I would say don't plan on doing too much over the next few months, and ENJOY! ENJOY! ENJOY!!!! God bless you. We're praying for you.
