Blessings and cursings
Today our 2 oldest children went back to school after a 2 week break (the last one of this school year). It's a relief to have them back in, as it helps all of our schedules get back to normal. Our car is still at the garage, so my wife and I are getting in better shape by having to pick up and drop our kids by foot. The kids seemed happy to be back as well.
I was able to spend some time in the book From Blessing to Cursing by Derek Prince (Derek Prince Ministries: Ft Lauderdale, 1986) that Ethel P. sent us. As we have been looking for multiple reasons why our son has been having some challenges at school, Ethel sent us this book.
Prince proposes that there are some common indications that there may be a curse over someone's life. These include (1) mental or emotional breakdown, (2) repeated or chronic sicknesses, especially if they are hereditary or without clear medical diagnosis, (3) repeated miscarriages or related female problems or barrenness, (4) the breakdown of marriage or family alienation in general, (5) continuing financial insufficiency, especially where the income appears sufficient, (6) being accident prone, and (7) a history of suicides or unnatural deaths in the family.
There are a number of common causes of curses. Some of these include (1) idolatry, false gods, the occult, (2) dishonoring parents, (3) illicit or unnatural sex, (4) injustice to the weak or helpless (including abortions), (5) trusting in the arm of the flesh, (6) stealing or perjury, (7) being stingy with God financially, (8) words spoken by persons with relational authority, such as parents, spouses, teachers, or pastors, (9) self-imposed curses which people pronounce upon themselves, (10) words pronounced by persons representing Satan: witch doctors, etc. (11) soulish prayers and utterances spoken in wrong attitudes and gossip, (12) unscriptural covenants--being united by covenant with people who are united with forces that are evil and alien to God.
Certainly I'm concerned about these things affecting my family But I'm also concerned abiding curses upon Paris and upon France that will affect its future.
