Open Doors of Belleville, Fonderie leaders meeting
Yesterday morning after dropping of my 2 oldest kids at school, I walked back with the mother of one of my daughter's classmates. She is an artist who has a studio just down the street from us. It turns out that a surprising number of the classmates of our children work in the arts. One girl's father writes music for films. Another girl's mother sings at the Paris Opera house. Another girl's mother is a painter. I think that this interaction with artists in our neighborhood is great.
Last night was the opening ceremony of our church's exposition as part of the Open Doors of Belleville arts festival. The theme of this year is "recycling." While the church's exposition wasn't as large as it has been the last few years, it still looks interesting, particularly the cloths hanging down the outside front of the church.
Agnes Collet gave a good concert last night. Unlike last year when there was a concert every night, last night is the only concert.
It was good to see our friend Paul last night. He and some of his ministry teammates helped the church set up and take down for the concert. Afterwards, I went out with him and 6 of his teammates for Asian food. It was good to meet them and get to share a little about what we have learned over the years here.
Today I and the whole family travelled outside of Paris to Jim and Angela's house for a major meeting of the leaders of la Fonderie. My wife was a trooper in helping watch the kids and not getting to participate as much in the meetings as I would have liked her to be able to. But she and the kids seemed to enjoy getting outside of Paris.
I'll need some time to mull over the discussions of today.
