Live from Elkhart, Indiana
We're now in Elkhart, Indiana at the home of our friends Mitch and Kathleen. I've known Mitch since we were young college students in NJ in 1981. He was an usher in our wedding.
Their house is in a new housing development and has soft grass, fresh air, quietness, and a view of a cornfield out the back window. All 3 kids are enjoying running around barefoot, something we rarely do outside in Paris.
We were going to be on our way to Chicagoland today. However, we are enjoying our time with our friends and their 3 children. We tend to do lots of coming and going during these U.S. trips. However, it seems like we should spend more time with people whom we can go deeper with in friendship. I want our kids to connect with people on this trip and have positive memories of it.
Our youngest has been waking up in the middle of the night recently, which has interrupted my wife's getting a good sleep. She also has had a hard time with even some relatively short trips, which would make it a real challenge with some of the tentative traveling that it seems that we need to do. So we need prayer for her.
The oldest 2 kids have done extremely well adjusting on this trip.
We enjoyed our visits to Woodside Bible Church of last Sunday and of yesterday. I'm excited about the direction of this church for the future. It is looking outward, rather than just trying to survive. Pastor Brad invited us to come back on a Sunday morning later this summer and be interviewed.
