Easter Monday

Lundi de Pâques (the Monday after Easter) is a national holiday in France. This makes for a relaxing day and a long weekend, if someone goes away. We had some nice down time today. One highlight was that Emma used the potty for the first time this morning. We even caught a little of the classic film The Wizard of Oz in English with French subtitles on TV tonight.

Yesterday there was a festive Easter celebration service at our church. There were baby dedications of Raphael (Sri Lankan father & French mother) and Samuel (French father and Bulgarian mother). Marie (a Chinese woman) was baptized. It was a reminder of the internationalness of our congregation.

We continued our traditional Easter lunch for some of our friends who don't have family in Paris. We had 5 guests from our church yesterday: Alain (a Frenchman who is Joel's adoptive pappy or grandfather, Lindsday (a woman originally from Mauritius and a regular Christmas/Easter guest at our home), Alayne (recently from California and a former Sorbonne classmate of Al's), and Guillaume & Delali (a couple from Togo in West Africa). There was some deep sharing of testimonies during the afternoon.

My parents fly from Denver to here in 16 days. We started to get our order to things that they can bring over for us ready today.
