Good Health in 2007? Not yet.
One of our wishes for our friends in 2007 is good health. This can be said lightly, without much reflection, especially by someone like me who has been overall extremely healthy for my whole lifetime.
Right now I write from a position of weakness. For I'm still fighting an annoying chest cough, which causes lotw sof nasal congestion and makes it hard to talk without coughing. My wife has flu-like symptoms. All 3 kids are fighting colds.
One of our neighbors, Mme. Corty, said that the weather has been strange, as it's been like March weather with lots of rain and varying hot and cold temperatures. Our health symptoms are fairly common in our building, as well as in our city.
But it's still annoying. OUr sicknesses really have dampered the plans taht we had to get together with friends this 2 week school vacation.
In general, I'm rarely affected by the grey Januarys in Paris. However, the combination of being sick and the short days, grey skies, and cold temperatures has gotten to me a little this last week.
On the bright side, it's been fun to have extra time with all 3 kids. Our "baby" is now making great strides at crawling and even standing up. She's such a smily baby that it's hard to feel sad or depressed when she's around.
I've started to think about resolutions or new directins for 2007. A couple are pretty basic, but important. They are to spend more time listening to God and to my wife, as well as communicating with them. It's important to carve out these times on a daily basis. Otherwise I risk ending up being a stranger to both of them in the midst of trying to go things for them. The words "cease striving" came to me this morning. As a natural striver, this is challenging to apply for me.
the one benefit of being sick is that it forces the RPMs of life to slow down.
