Dishwasher hose
One of our best appliance investments was a dishwasher when we returned to Paris in 2000. For all the people that we've had over for meals these past 7 years, it's been invaluable. With 3 kids, we generate a lot of dishes that the dishwasher makes it a lot easier to wash than doing them by hand. The dishwasher's higher temperature also helps sanitize cups and silverware better than doing them by hand.
Our machine has run well for the most part these past years. We've probably run several thousand loads and saved many hours of work. We've had to call a repairman once a couple of years ago, but have otherwise not had any other expenses.
During the last few days, we've noticed some water that has been on the floor after a load was completed.
We think that this is because of a leaking hose. So after the Fonderie weekly team meeting this afternoon, I went to Darty and bought another hose. It was nice to have the French to be able to get advice on the two possible hoses. I bought the more expensive one, as it should last longer and better hold the water. For it only takes one flood when we're away and we're paying a lot more than the cost of the hose to repair the damage.
Between computers, our car, and the dishwasher, we've had our share recently of machine breakdown. I asked God this morning that He (the Lord and Maker of the universe and the one who holds everything together) would help maintain our appliances for this next season.
