Thankful for progress in our son

This afternoon we had a meeting with a psychiatrist and a counselor who work the CMPP ( a medical and psychological center in our neighborhood). They have been part of a team of different people who have been trying to help us and our son with some of his learning challenges of the last couple of years. We've been meeting monthly with the psychiatrist and the counselor helped do a 3 session evaluation with our son.

The school principal was the first one who strongly advised us to try to get our son into center for an evaluation. This woman is another person whom we greatly respect. She's excellent at running the school and really cares for the kids. I would guess that she probably is not making much money at it either.

Last Friday we met with her, as well as the school psychologist. There is still progress that needs to be made and yesterday was a rough day in which our son seemed to regress into some old patterns. However, last Friday's meeting was encouraging as they both said that they saw progress being made and a desire in our son to learn.

Today he was gone all day on a school field trip to visit the midieval city of Provins. When I dropped him off early this morning, he had a big smile on his face. When my wife picked him up this evening, he had a big smile. The school director said that he did well today.

We're thankful for the team of people at the school and CMPP who are helping us and our son. We should also add Pastor Gilles who had a session with us and prayed for some specific things, as well as our church friends Alain and Antoinette. Then there is the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor who discovered the water in both his inner ear canals that could have been blocking up to 40% of his hearing. Our son has another visit with this doctor tomorrow.

Like many situations in life, there is a combination of physical, psychological, and spiritual factors. We're grateful for the expertise of these different people in Paris in these areas. Except for the ENT doctor and the minimal tuition we pay at the school, these other people don't cost us anything financially.

It's encouraging to see our son open up more and become the joyful boy that he seemed to be at a young age.
