Friends on the journey--Part 3

Today we had lunch with Pierre-Nicolas and Mary-Colleen and their 6 month old son Tobias. They are some of the other quality people that we get to work with in Paris.

We first saw them when they were just dating, as they were in the worship group Alharm that used to lead monthly at our church. Pierre is a talented singer and musician who was written some of my favorite French worship songs. While I know of other talented worship leaders, he has a special anointing when he leads. It's hard to describe, as you really need to be there to sense it. Colleen is a talented singer, administator, and English translator. She efficiently works well behind the scenes. Both are in their early to mid twenties.

This past year, Pierre left his job in a bank to voluntarily work at our church. The leaders wisely saw his ministry potential and hired him full-time for this next year to work in areas: (1) overseeing all the ministries involving young people from birth until 25 years old, (2) leading the youth ministry, and (3) co-leading the worship ministry at church with another 20-something named Emmanuel.

Pierre is a visionary young man and a glimmer of hope in our church. As I reflect about how to invest my time this next year, working with him seems to be a high, return investment. To me, he represents the type of young French leader that is desperately needed for the Church to grow in France. Ditto for Colleen, who also is a diamond in the rough.

Our 22 month old daughter kept going up to Tobias and giving him kisses. I expect that she'll do the same with our baby. I can already imagine our son giving him/her big brotherly advice and our daughter being a 2nd mother to him/her.

Nicole had her monthly exam with her OB/GYN and everything looked good. She has a photo of him/her stretching out his/her legs like he/she was in a chaise lounge. I wonder if this next one will be both active and laid-back.
