C'est une fille / It's a girl

To our surprise yesterday, we learned that the person in my wife's womb is a she, rather than a he. We both intuitively felt that it was a boy, as did the majority of our friends and family. My wife's father claims to have guessed that it was a girl.

For a number of different reasons, this child seems more mysterious than our first two. I think that she'll be a person of strong faith, as it was a step of faith for my wife and I to obey God's direction to go beyond our comfort zone of two children. My wife somehow thinks that she'll bring a completeness to our family that we don't yet have.

Last night I started picturing my wife, our 2 year old, and this new baby chattering together and cooking in the kitchen as adults. It's a panic for me to watch my wife, her sister, and their mom together. It will probably be the same for my three girls.
