Travel Safety

One of the sad stories of today is of an airplane with around 150 passengers that crashed in western Venezuela and left no known survivors. A good number of these were from the French territory of Martinique. This follows on the heals of a crash 2 days ago in Greece of a airplane from Cyprus that also left no survivors. Then there was the Air France plane in Toronto where everyone got out quickly before the plane was engulfed in flames.

These incidents really make me want to fly. Not!

However, one travel statistic is that, per numbers of miles or kilometers traveled, one is 13x more likely to die in a car accident than in an airplane accident.

We've got a 5 1/2 trip to Lyon in the Rhone-Alps region of France scheduled for tomorrow. This should be a simpler trip than our recent trip to the Netherlands, as we stay on one highway for nearly the whole route. Hopefully the change of scenery will be refreshing to all of us.

Today was a catch up day of Paris projects. I completed and sent off a piece of publicity for the next session of the Fonderie. I also took the 2 kids on the bus by myself for the first time this afternoon. They are growing up so fast.
