Sprained ankle

Yesterday our wannabe stuntman son jumped off the top of the plastic slide in our church nursery. He normally lands like a cat on his feet. This time however, he must have slipped, as I heard a thud and saw him wincing a little. (I was reading a story to our daughter and another girl and didn't see him jump).

He was limping around a little yesterday, so we were concerned. My wife took him to our local doctor to check it out. Fortunately, thanks to being in a country with socialized medicine, it only cost 20 euros ($25 U.S.), rather than $100 like it would have in the U.S.

The doctor felt around his foot, ankle, and knee for breakage. She determined that it was just a sprain and prescribed an ace bandage for him. It was a relief to us that his first "injury" was just a sprain, rather than something broken.
