Birthday Party and other kids' events of this weekend
This has been a full weekend already, not including tomorrow's May 8 holiday in France. It's nice having a couple of 3 day weekends in a row, although they haven't necessarily been overly relaxing, but have been productive.
Yesterday afternoon we went to the 2 year old birthday celebration of Vadim, whom we know through the young mother's group that Nicole helped launch last year. His mom was part of that group and Vadim was one of a handful of kids that played in our kids' room during those meetings.
It was good to be to their apartment for the first time yesterday and meet Vadim's father Jean-François, as well as their upstairs neighbors, a couple with a 12 month old daughter. We had apetizers and birthday cake and just hung out in their living room.
Yesterday my wife went with our oldest 2 kids to our church's clothes giveway ("Armoires de Salomon" or "Solomon's Closet") and children's program of "Quartier Libre." She found 3 bags of clothes for the kids, while the kids were entertained as well.
This afternoon we went as a family to one of our local parks. I recognized several woman from the Moday A.M swim class, as well as from our son's school.
All 3 of these activities reminded me of the importance of going out there where people are. Our kids provide opportunities to naturally meet people, as well as to invite and be invited for different local events like birthday parties. But now it's time to go to bed.
