Home Ministry Assignment Travel Planning

Yesterday and today I've been high and heavy into planning out our upcoming Home Ministry Assignment in the U.S. These trips are always a good review for me in U.S. geography, as we have lots of ground to cover. This trip seems especially full of travels and visits.

There is prayer that goes into these trips as we try to plot out where we should go. Sometimes we do sense a sort of Macedonian call to visit this or that area or person. But often for us, it's not like that. Rather, it is based on expediency and what seems to be wise to do. Having 3 young children is definitely a factor that is playing in to our journeys, as we normally can't travel to far in any one day.

I've had our AAA road atlas open very often this past week trying to get a feel for different itineraries. It does seem that God is opening the door for us to see some old friends and classmates now living in places like the Twin Cities of Minnesota; Omaha, Nebraska; Kansas City, Kansas; St. Louis, Missouri; and Nashville, Tennessee. These are all places where we haven't been for at least 4 years or more. We may even get to Atlanta, Georgia; Florida; and the Carolinas. The one region that it looks like we won't get to this time is the Northeast, even though we have many dear friends there.

We'll spend some time in Colorado and South Dakota with our families.

I've had our printer working hard to print up lots of driving directions from the Mapquest site. I've also been on the Internet to do hotel reservations, and even rejoined Triple AAA, as the cost of the membership will be covered by our savings in hotel reservations. I've also been doing e-mails seeing if different people are around. Fortunately, it looks like many will be around when we are in their part of the world.

The video production hasn't gone anywhere in a couple of days because of all this adminstrative stuff that has needed to happen. But this is all part of our "business."
