Live from Winfield, Illinois
Haven't blogged in a few days, as we've been busy.
The big travel on Thursday June 15 went very well. The van picked us up and got us to the Roissy Airport just in time to check in, go through immigration, catch the bus, and board the plane. Marion Reuter was a huge help in helping us get out the door, while Claire was a huge help throughout the day.
The kids did amazingly well on the 8 hour flight. Many people must have been praying.
Larry and Eleanor Sutton met us at Detroit Metro Airport and got us to their house. It was a restful time of getting organized and acclimated to the 6 hour time change. As of today, it seems like we're all on U.S. time. Their thoughtful choice of foods and opening up their pool all helped us get going.
We visited First Presbyterian Church of Trenton and saw many friends there on Sunday morning.
We then drove 3 hours to Elkhart, Indiana Sunday afternoon and had a nice time with Mitch, Kathleen, Nathanael, Nathan, and Bonnie Jean Hasse. Mitch has been a friend for 25 years and it was good to see all them again.
Yesterday we drove another 3 hours to Winfield, Illinois to our friends Kyle and Kirsten (Hoden) Arney's home. I met Kirsten at a retreat center in Normandy a decade ago. Our kids had fun running through their sprinker.
This morning I went to the men's group that I attended 1998-2000 when at Wheaton Grad School. Bill Gosling still leads this and it meets at Rob O'Dell's office. It's always like coming home to be with these guys, even though the group changes each time. Bill is a gracious example of a spiritual father to many of us.
