Publicity and Communications

Many people in my native country celebrate Halloween today. While there were some stories on French news about this, this "holiday" (a word I strongly hesitate to use for it) was not at all a part of our lives here. While I went trick or treating in a costume in the early evening with my father and brother when I was a kid, people don't do that around here.

Today my primary project was sending e-publicity for this Thursday's Fonderie evening which features percussioniste and arts ministry trainer Gabriel Alonso. He has played with some major people and groups, including Graham Kendrick, Chris Bowater, Gloria Gaynor, and EXO.

Due to the lack of unity in much of the French church, it's not easy to get churches of different denominational affiliation or theological perspective to either communicate or support ministry activities of those ministries or churches that are different.

However, the Internet and e-mail publicity are ways of passing over barriers put up by church leaders in order to communicate for not too expensive. I was able to add the names from a couple of different lists that were recently sent my way.

As with many things today, information is power. One of the challenges in establishing city-wide, region-wide, and nationwide ministries is to be able to wisely and passionately communicate the vision that God has given, as well as the practical details such as meeting times and themes.
