Jenny arrived

Yesterday I picked up Jenny at the airport. She's come here for a couple of months to help us, particularly with our kids. (I'm waiting for one of them to wake up anytime, so today's entry might get cut short any minute now). Jenny was pretty jet lagged yesterday, so we're going easy on her the first couple of days while she adapts to the 6 hour time change.

Yesterday my wife and I wrestled with trying to figure out who to invite to our son's upcoming 5th birthday party. In some ways, we would like to invite everyone in his class. That way, no one would be left out. Unfortunately, we don't have a big enough apartment and twenty 4 and 5 year olds would be unmanageable for us. So we need to narrow the choice down to a maximum of 8 other attendees. Even that would be pushing it.

While this choice isn't as important as when Jesus had to choose His 12 disciples from among His many followers, it does hold some importance.

I was encouraged by these verses from Isaiah 40 this morning.

Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, 'My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God'? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LOD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
