Live from Farmington Hills, Michigan--Part 2
Our kids have enjoyed the first 2 days of VBS at Grace Chapel. So have we. It has been good to have this longer period at Grace Chapel in order to get to know more of its people. The people have been full of grace and kindness toward us. Today, Polly, the children's program coordinator, had my wife put our 17 month old in the nursery (for the 2nd day) and allowed my wife to nap for part of the morning.
This evening we had supper and swimming with Ignacio and Heather from the church and their 4 children. We met them 3 years ago and enjoyed strengthening our link with them today. It's so interesting to hear people's stories of God's grace toward them.
One of the songs that our kids enjoy from a 70s CD that I recently bought is "Thank you for being a friend." It later became the theme song of the TV show "The Golden Girls." It's cute to hear our kids sing along with it. It also could be a theme song of this trip, as we have been the recipient of so many acts of kindness and hospitality.
I've got an early morning breakfast tomorrow with Curt, one of my friends from my 1980s studies at Wheaton. He was an usher in our wedding 10 years ago.
