Live from Streetsboro, Ohio

We're at a Holiday Inn Express in Streetsboro, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland that is off I-80, the Ohio Turnpike here. After 4 weeks in the Midwest (Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois), we're heading toward the East Coast for July. We plan to be in the Philadelphia area this weekend, then head for New Jersey.

This week has been very good. The VBS program ended at Grace Chapel today with a closing program and picnic. I was so proud to see our 2 oldest kids singing along with the others and trying to do the motions as well. In the car today, they were singing along with the CD of VBS songs. We are definitely pleased with our time at Grace Chapel this week and feel like we definitely bonded with some of its people.

After leaving Farmington Hills this afternoon, we stopped by Best Buy to pick up my computer that had died. Because we purchased the extended warranty just over 3 years ago, the repair didn't cost us anything. The bill showed that replacing the screen and mother board cost around $700, not including labor. The extended warranty cost us around $200. So we definitely won out on the deal. The way that we go through computers, a 3 year warranty on a notebook computer is probably always going to pay for itself with the first repair.

We also had our eyes reexamined to verify that both my and my wife's new type of contact lenses are working. The new ones are disposible ones that last from 2 weeks to 2 months. My wife also got new glasses, as her eyes have worsened in recent years,

So, it's good to have already taken care of getting the computer repaired, getting our eyes examined and glasses replaced, and our driver's licenses renewed for the next 4 years.

Yesterday Heidi and her sons Zachary and Greg treated our family to an afternoon at the Detroit Zoo. The temperature was in the 70s, rather than the usual 90s that we seem to always go on. Consequently, the animals were more lively than usual.
