Short-term ministry opportunities

Yesterday I got an e-mail from Gilles, the pastor of the Reformed Church in the Marais section of Paris. This is the church that hosted the arts consultation in June. This past year, his church had a team of 3 young British young ladies that came through the Oasis Trust in the UK. Brits often spend their gap year in France in order to improve their French. But due to changes in the British university pricing system, there are no volunteers coming through Oasis. Therefore he asked if there was anyway that I could get some help for the church.

At Belleville, we've had a hard time getting student/intern prospects for this coming year. (Since May, I've been in charge of the interns). Fortunately, it looks like Isaac, a sharp 18 year old from Colorado, will be able to spend a year with us. But we would love to have another male intern for the whole year.

I've been thinking that one possible role that I might have down the road is the coordinator of interns in a number of churches at the same time. In the past, I've been able to handle recruiting individuals and teams for projects related to my ministries purely through my world of contacts.

But I expect that with increasing ministry needs and opportunities here, I'll need to work more closely with the short-term coordinators of my organization International Teams. Coaching the interns may become a significant part of my overall work. For this coming year, I'll have Isaac to learn and grow with in this area.

Hey al!

Our team had lunch with the interns at Marais in May. They were really kind ... actually they worked a lot with alpha as well.

(thanks for the compliment. ;) hehe...)
