Live from Lawrenceville, Georgia

Last night we arrived at the home of our friends Rick, Kim, Tyler and Toby Emch (1-678-376-9425) in Lawrenceville, a suburb northeast of Atlanta. We knew Rick and Kim from a young marrieds Sunday School class in Wheaton, Illinois. (This is the same class that Steve and Cathy in Utah were in as well). At that time, none of us had any kids. Now, 6 years and 5 kids later, life is much different.

We drove a good part of Monday and Tuesday to be here. Starting in Hermann, we drove east through Missouri and south of St. Louis, crossed into Illinois and headed south. After entering into Kentucky, we did an unscheduled stop in Paducah (home of Steven Curtis Chapman) to visit my Aunt Phyllis. We hadn't seen her in 7-8 years and just telephoned from a gas station, as our route took us right through Paducah. We ended up getting to see my cousin Evonda and her daughter Erin.

On our way to the hotel in Clarksville, Tennessee, our son got sick and vomited in the backseat. He baptized his baby sister, who was sitting in the middle of the backseat. She wasn't too pleased about this. He had some time of bug that made him pretty docile on the trip yesterday. Instead of eating lunch at the Cracker Barrel in northern Georgia yesterday, he laid across 2 chairs and slept. He seemed to feel better last night, as he wanted macaroni and cheese and ate a number of bowls of frozen peas.

We hit some famous (or infamous) Atlanta traffic late yesterday afternoon on our way to Lawrenceville. Fortunately, Rick works just 3 miles from the house and doesn't have to drive into Atlanta.

Everyone slept well last night. Our oldest daughter just woke up, so I'll close this for now.

Fonz, I wish I had a nickle for everytime I cleaned up puke from a car seat. We keep plastic ziplock bags strategically placed in the car now. This also makes for an interesting view! The middle one has a habbit of not telling anyone she is sick until we hear/see the projectile vomiting. Ahh, life on the road! Can you have ever imagined back at NBC that you would be "dad" and cleaning up after kids like this? Glad to hear your travels are safe.
