Live from Verona, New Jersey

Today we celebrated July 4th with our friends the Meyers in Verona, New Jersey. This year is the 100th birthday of Verona, NJ, so the town celebrated it today with a fun parade and events in Verona Park. Our 3 kids enjoyed being with their 4 kids. 2 of their children are adopted and it has been good to see their progression from 3 years ago until now. Like us, they have a tightly packed home now, but there is lots of love there.

It was moving to see our kids waving the flag of the land of their citizenship, even though they have lived in France most of their lives. I wonder where each of them will feel like is home to them when they are older?

Duing the parade, we saw a mosaic of the different faces and nationalities that make up the United States. Different groups in the parade included a Brazilian jujitsu club, a Jewish veterans group, etc. There were groups representing Roman Catholic, United Methodist, and Episcopal churches.
